Our Story
The vision behind Casa de Artisan was born from a deep, personal connection to India’s rich craft heritage. Growing up in a family that moved frequently across the country due to his father’s service in the Indian Army, our founder was exposed to the diverse beauty of regional artistry from a young age. His mother, a passionate admirer of local crafts, turned each home into a gallery of Indian culture—featuring everything from Kashmiri woodwork and Kerala’s vibrant textiles to the intricate weaves of Assam and the bold designs of Rajasthan.
These early experiences sparked a lifelong appreciation for craftsmanship and a deep empathy for the artisans behind it—many of whom struggle for fair recognition and compensation despite their extraordinary skill. Motivated to create meaningful change, he established Casa de Artisan as a platform to honor, support, and promote traditional artisanship.
His career as a navigating officer in the Merchant Marines took him to over 30 countries, enriching his perspective on global art forms and cultural traditions. Later, equipped with an MS in Finance from Baruch College and valuable experience at a leading financial institution in New York City, he merged his passion for crafts with business acumen to bring Casa de Artisan to life.
Today, Casa de Artisan showcases exceptional handmade creations from India—spanning ceramics, marble, and woodwork—with plans to expand into textiles, rugs, jewelry, and women’s apparel. The journey doesn’t stop at India: upcoming collections will highlight global craftsmanship, beginning with traditions from Africa and Mexico.
At its heart, Casa de Artisan is more than a marketplace—it’s a tribute to generational artistry, a bridge between cultures, and a promise to give artisans the recognition, respect, and fair compensation they truly deserve.
SUSTAINABLY SOURCED
100% of wood products are sourced with responsible forestry methods, some being certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or SVLK.
All the wood sourced for our furniture is done so in a responsible manner. For each we used we plant three.
